PORTLAND, Maine — A therapist accused of sexually assaulting a former patient is back in trouble with the law after police say he contacted the victim while out on bail.
Kelly O’Rourke appeared in court Friday afternoon, facing a new charge of violating his conditional release, accused of stalking his alleged victim to a parking lot in Portland this week to confess his love for her.
O’Rourke appeared in court Friday in handcuffs after his arrest early Wednesday morning.
Police say despite being monitored by GPS and given explicit instructions not to contact the alleged victim, O’Rourke followed her to a parking lot in Portland.
In court Friday prosecutors said he found her location after she had posted it on social media.
At that point, prosecutors said, O’Rourke, who is the victim’s former therapist, confessed his love for her and said he couldn’t stand that he was being kept away from her.
The judge revoked O’Rourke’s bail on the original charge of gross sexual assault, and set a $5,000 bail for the violation charge.
