HERMON, Maine — John Curtis Jr. of Hermon was declared the winner of the 50-lap Hopkins Landscaping and Paving feature race for the Dysart’s Late Models at Speedway 95 Saturday night after apparent winner Scott Modery of Hermon was disqualified.
Modery was disqualified after a post-race inspection for having an unsealed crate motor and having his car chassis sitting lower than the minimum ride height required.
Curtis led the first four laps of the race, but was passed by Bradley’s Deane Smart, who led from lap 5 to lap 15. Modery then passed Smart and led from lap 16 to the finish.
Dana Wilburn of Frankfort was elevated to a second-place finish, Smart was third, Wayne Parritt Jr. of Steuben was fourth and Kris Matchett of Skowhegan finished fifth.
Curtis and Modery won the qualifiers.
