BRUNSWICK, Maine — A Brunswick man was arrested early Saturday morning and held without bail after police say he assaulted his girlfriend, ex-girlfriend and his 3-year-old son at an apartment near Cook’s Corner.
Thomas Sterling Shell, 26, was charged with two counts of domestic violence assault as well as aggravated assault, terrorizing and obstructing report of a crime.
Police went just after 1:30 a.m. Saturday to the home of Shell’s 23-year-old ex-girlfriend in Perryman Village and found her with injuries to her face — including a possible broken nose — and upper and lower body, Brunswick police Cmdr. Marc Hagan said Monday.
Shell allegedly kicked his 3-year-old son and assaulted the woman, who is the boy’s mother.
Shell also is accused of assaulting his current girlfriend, a 30-year-old woman who lives elsewhere.
The 23-year-old woman was taken to Mid Coast Hospital, where she was treated and released later in the day, Hagan said. The child and 30-year-old woman were each treated at the scene by Brunswick rescue personnel.
One count of assault was elevated to Class B aggravated assault because Shell allegedly attempted to strangle the 23-year-old woman. He was charged with terrorizing after allegedly threatening to kill the family of the ex-girlfriend, and he was charged with obstructing report of a crime after he allegedly took her cellphone when she tried to call for help.
Hagan said Shell was apparently drinking the night of the incident.
Shell remains at Cumberland County Jail without bail and is scheduled to appear at Portland Superior Court on Aug. 16.
