ORRINGTON, Maine — The Medomak Valley all-star team rallied past Ellsworth for an 11-10 victory in an elimination-round game at the Little League baseball state tourney for ages 11-12 Monday.
Lewiston eliminated Houlton 6-5 in the day’s second game.
Lewiston will take on Medomak in a losers bracket game at 6 p.m. Tuesday, following a 3 p.m. winners bracket showdown between Biddeford and Scarborough.
The Biddeford-Scarborough winner advances to Friday’s championship round at 5:30 p.m. while the loser will play the winner of the Lewiston vs. Medomak contest at 5:30 p.m. Thursday.
Tourney teams will have a rest day Wednesday.
On Monday, Ellsworth scored all of its 10 runs in the first inning but Medomak of Waldoboro chipped away, with a run in the first, six more in the third and four in the decisive fifth inning.
Jake Bickmore sparked Medomak with a home run and a double while Aiden Starr chipped in with three doubles. Brady Carter, Ethan Reed and Anthony York each contributed with a single.
Hunter Curtis recorded three singles for Ellsworth and Landon St. Peter added a double.
In the second game, Lewiston took a 6-3 lead at the end of the fourth inning and held off Houlton, which rallied for two runs in the top of the sixth.
Dale Morin notched a double and single to lead Lewiston while Damon Bossie and Michael Dymkowski each chipped in with a double.
Silas Graham sparked Houlton with a home run, double and single. Haven Hanning added a double.
