DAYTON, Maine — Seat belts were a major factor in preventing serious injury in a Tuesday collision on Route 35, according to state police.
Jessica Dilboy, 35, apparently fell asleep at the wheel of her Nissan Versa and crashed into a Toyota driven by Kim Hammersley, 65, of East Waterboro, according to Department of Public Safety spokesman Stephen McCausland.
A passenger in Hammersley’s car, Gary McNeill, 62, of East Waterboro, suffered minor injuries but did not require medical attention. Both drivers were taken to Southern Maine Medical Center in Biddeford for treatment of minor injuries, McCausland said.
All three people involved were wearing seat belts, which McCausland said likely saved their lives.
