SKOWHEGAN, Maine — A local man was arrested on Monday after allegedly threatening a family member with a knife, according to Skowhegan police.
The series of events leading to the arrest of Mykel Rollins, 28, occurred when the male victim called police to report Rollins had threatened him with a knife, a statement from police read.
When police came to Rollins’ residence, he answered brandishing a kitchen knife with a 10- to 12-inch blade, challenging police to shoot him, according to the statement.
Police were able to subdue Rollins with a Taser, and while being tased, Rollins dropped his weapon and was taken into custody.
Rollins was evaluated at Redington Fairview Hospital before being taken to the Somerset County Jail and booked on a charge of domestic violence criminal threatening with a dangerous weapon.
Further charges are likely after the case is reviewed by the district attorney’s office.
