BIDDEFORD, Maine — A local man was arrested after allegedly stabbing another man Thursday night.

Stephen Cote, 32, was arrested and charged with aggravated assault and violating conditions of release, according to Biddeford police.

Police said they found a man with a significant laceration to his hand at a residence on South Street.

The victim was not cooperative with police, and he was placed into protective custody before being transported to Southern Maine Health Care for treatment of his injuries, according to police. Details about the victim’s condition were not available.

Two women also at the residence were not cooperative with police. One of the women, Katherine Smith, became argumentative and hostile toward police, and she was arrested and charged with obstructing government administration, according to police.

She was taken to York County Jail in Alfred and has been released.

Cote remained at York County Jail on $10,000 bail.
