BOOTHBAY, Maine — A Boothbay man on probation for a previous sex crime was arrested Tuesday and charged with felony possession of child pornography.
Joseph Pinkham, 30, remained at Two Bridges Regional Jail on Wednesday, held on $10,000 cash bail, according to a news release from the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office.
The sheriff’s office and the Maine Department of Corrections probation and parole department received information Friday that Pinkham had sent child pornography to a woman in Florida, according to the release.
Pinkham is on probation for a 2013 conviction for felony possession of sexually explicit material, according to the release.
He is required by law to register as a sex offender for the rest of his life, according to the Maine Sex Offender Registry.
In September 2014, Justice Daniel Billings sentenced Pinkham to five years in prison with all but two years suspended after Pinkham pleaded guilty to five charges of possession of child pornography, the Lincoln County News reported at the time. He received two concurrent two-year sentences and two one-year sentences for other possession charges as well as a concurrent six-month sentence for bail violation.
While in jail, Pinkham was attacked in July 2014 and hospitalized with injuries to his mouth and jaw. A Clinton man pleaded guilty to aggravated assault in the case.
After an initial investigation by the sheriff’s office, probation and parole and the Maine State Police Computer Crimes Unit, which included executing a search warrant at Pinkham’s home, he was charged with violating probation and then with Class B felony possession of sexually explicit material.
According to the release, additional charges are possible, pending the outcome of an ongoing investigation.
