HAMPDEN, Maine — Town police used the drug Narcan for the first time Wednesday night to revive an unresponsive man.
Shortly after 11 p.m. police responded to a report of an unresponsive 38-year-old man, and officers arrived to find the man not breathing, according to a statement released by Sgt. Dan Stewart.
Officers administered Narcan to the man, whose name was not disclosed, and his condition quickly improved, Stewart said.
The man was brought to an area hospital by Hampden EMS for observation.
Earlier this summer, Bangor police officials used the drug on two occasions to revive two individuals suffering from suspected drug overdoses.
Both instances came over the July 4 holiday weekend.
