ELLSWORTH, Maine — A Dedham woman is accused of stealing more than $9,000 from her employer, Gold Star Cleaners, an Ellsworth Police Department official said Tuesday.

Carol L. Robbins, 54, was charged with Class C theft, a felony punishable by up to five years in prison and a fine of up to $5,000, Lt. Harold Page said in a news release.

The charge stems from a complaint filed by Gold Star’s Ellsworth location alleging that Robbins stole $12,359 from the business since Jan. 1 of last year.

An investigation by Detective Dorothy Small found that the total loss actually was $9,359, Page said.

Robbins is scheduled to appear in Ellsworth Unified Court on Nov. 22.
