FARMINGTON, Maine — A murder suspect appeared before a judge Friday, more than two months after a deadly shooting in Wilton.

The indictment says a grand jury charged Timothy Danforth with the murder of Michael Reis.

Danforth pleaded not guilty before a judge Friday afternoon, during an arraignment that lasted less than five minutes.

The 24-year-old is accused of shooting Reis back on June 1.

State police say it happened outside Danforth’s father’s home on Weld Road in Wilton.

According to police, the victim, 24-year-old Michael Reis of New Sharon, was part of a group that had gone to the home and got into a “confrontation.”

No details have been released regarding exactly what led up to the shooting.

Friday, crime scene tape could still be seen at the Wilton property.

Family and friends of both the suspect and victim declined to speak with CBS 13 Friday.

Danforth is being held without bail.

He’s due back in court in October.
