VAN BUREN, Maine — Ryan Player scored three goals as Fort Fairfield defeated Van Buren 8-0 in a boys soccer match Friday.
The Tigers led just 2-0 at intermission before breaking the match open in the second half.
Jonah Daigle added two goals while Solomon Daigle, Colby Daigle and Dawson Watson each scored once.

Washburn 3, So. Aroostook 1
At Washburn, Kristen Sarmiento broke a 1-1 tie seven minutes into the second half and Skylar Mette added an insurance goal as the Beavers defeated Southern Aroostook of Dyer Brook.
Southern Aroostook got on the board first 30 seconds into the first half on a goal by Kylie Vining. Washburn answered 13 minutes later with a goal by Kassie Farley.
Washburn goalie Maggie Castonguay made saves on nine shots. Southern Aroostook’s Marissa Boulier had 17 saves on 23 shots.

Maine 2, LIU-Brooklyn 0
The University of Maine received first-half goals just 26 seconds apart from sophomores Kate Evans and Anetra Byfield, and freshman goalie Annalena Kriebisch made five saves as the Black Bears opened with a victory over Long Island University-Brooklyn in Brooklyn, New York.
Evans scored off a set piece from a free kick with Vivien Beil picking up an assist before Byfield sailed a 30-yard shot over goalkeeper Aline Allman’s head.
Kriebisch made four of her five saves in the first half while Allman finished with two saves.
Maine, which will visit Central Connecticut State at 3 p.m. Sunday, had a 10-8 advantage in shots at goal.
