HOLLIS, Maine — Police caught up with a Buxton man Sunday morning after he led them on a car chase and later fled the scene of a crash in a backyard in Hollis on Saturday night.

Jason Henderson, 32, was charged with eluding a police officer and operating a vehicle after the revocation of his driver’s license, the Maine State Police said Sunday in a news release.

Henderson allegedly tried to outrun Trooper Kyle Wells on Saturday night, when Wells attempted to pull him over for a traffic violation.

Henderson eventually drove through a crowded parking lot and then into a backyard, where he nearly hit a children’s swing set before fleeing on foot into nearby woods, police said.

The trooper found three small children and Henderson’s girlfriend in the vehicle after he fled the scene.

Henderson was arrested Sunday morning at a Buxton residence. He was taken to York County Jail in Alfred and additional charges may be filed.
