BREWER, Maine — City police are investigating a string of residential and motor vehicle burglaries, according to Public Safety Director Jason Moffitt.

The four residential burglaries and 10 vehicle burglaries allegedly occurred Saturday and Sunday in the Tremont and Brimmer Street areas, Moffitt said.

In all four incidents, the residential burglaries occurred during late-night or early morning hours while homeowners were asleep. Moffitt said burglars entered through unlocked doors and windows.

Brewer police are asking those who observe suspicious activity to immediately call police at 989-7001.

Residents are also advised to lock ground floor doors, windows and vehicles, and if belongings are kept in a vehicle, to keep them in a trunk or out of sight.
