MILBRIDGE, Maine — A Harrington man facing a charge of manslaughter in connection with the overdose death of a man in Ellsworth earlier this year is behind bars again following another drug bust.
Eric Fletcher, 37, was arrested Aug. 26 on a charge of violating conditions of release after police responded just before 8 p.m. to a complaint about suspicious activity, Milbridge Police Chief Lewis Pinkham said Tuesday. Fletcher and three other people were at a residence on Route 1A when police arrived to investigate the complaint, according to Pinkham.
Richard Sprague, 50, who lives at the residence, was arrested on charges of violating conditions of release and unlawful possession of scheduled drugs. Kayla Stanley, 23, of Harrington, was arrested on a charge of violating conditions of release and Kerry Nash, 56, of Milbridge, was arrested on a charge of unlawful possession of scheduled drugs, the police chief said.
Fletcher and Stanley were still being held at the Washington County Jail as of Tuesday afternoon, according to jail personnel. Sprague and Nash have been released on bail since their arrests.
In July, Fletcher was charged with manslaughter and aggravated trafficking in scheduled drugs in connection with the overdose death of a man to whom he allegedly sold drugs. Fletcher is accused of selling heroin to Brendon Bubar, 28, of Cherryfield, prior to Bubar overdosing on the drug at an Ellsworth motel at the end of March, police have said.
Both the manslaughter charge and the aggravated trafficking charge are Class A felonies, convictions for which are punishable in Maine by up to 30 years in prison and a maximum fine of $50,000.
Pinkham said drug paraphernalia, crack cocaine and Ritalin were seized Friday night as part of the investigation. He declined to specify the quantity of the items and drugs that were seized.
The Washington County Sheriff’s Office and Maine Drug Enforcement Agency assisted the Milbridge Police Department with the investigation, according to Pinkham.
