BATH, Maine — Bath police are searching for a 38-year-old Bath man wanted for allegedly assaulting another man with a hammer, causing serious injuries to his face.

Jason Mackenzie allegedly struck a 37-year-old Bowdoin man following an argument Aug. 24 in an apartment at 98 Union St., according to a release from Bath Police Lt. Robert Savary.

Savary said Mackenzie is considered “somewhat dangerous” due to a “lengthy criminal history that includes assaults.”

Following the Aug. 24 argument, the two men went outside and Mackenzie allegedly picked up a hammer and struck the other man several times around the face, causing serious but not life-threatening injuries, Savary said.

The victim was treated and released from Mid Coast Hospital in Brunswick.

Mackenzie is wanted on an active warrant charging him with Class B felony aggravated assault. He was last seen in the area of 100 Union St., according to the release, although police say he may be in the Dresden or Augusta areas.

Anyone with information on Mackenzie’s whereabouts is asked to call Bath police at 443-5563.
