BATH, Maine — A local man has been arrested in connection with the assault of another man with a hammer, police said Thursday.

Jason Mackenzie, 37, was taken into custody by the Waldo County Sheriff’s Office on Wednesday night, according to a statement released by Bath police.

Mackenzie is accused of striking a 37-year-old Bowdoin man after an argument on Aug. 24 at a Union Street apartment.

After the argument, the two men went outside, and Mackenzie allegedly struck the victim several times around the face, seriously injuring the other man.

The victim was treated and released from a Brunswick hospital.
