FRYEBURG, Maine — A Lovell woman is facing 14 charges after police say she resisted arrest, ran off after being tased, drove away at high speed and was eventually arrested at her home.
Around 10:30 p.m. Saturday, Fryeburg police stopped a truck on Main Street for suspicion of driving under the influence. Police said an altercation happened with the driver, Roberta Blood-Kemp, and the officer tried to use a Taser.
Blood-Kemp, 40, was able to escape custody, got in her truck and drove off at speeds reaching more than 80 miles per hour.
Police said Blood-Kemp went down Frog Alley Road before going to her home on Main Street in Lovell, where she was arrested and taken to the Oxford County Jail.
Among the charges Blood-Kemp faces are refusing to stop for an officer, refusing to submit to arrest, operating under the influence and escape. She also faces seven charges of refusing to sign seven summons issued by police.
Blood-Kemp will make her first court appearance in November.
“The actions of the suspect not only placed an increased risk on herself but officers and other motorists,” Fryeburg Police Chief Joshua Potvin said.
Potvin said his department will look into why the Taser did not work on Blood-Kemp.
