The Cross Insurance Center in Bangor has announced its 2016-2017 First National Bank Presents Broadway’s Best in Bangor series, which will feature five shows beginning in December.
The Broadway’s Best in Bangor series kicks off with “Mannheim Steamroller Christmas,” scheduled for 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 6. Grammy Award-winner Chip Davis, the founder and leader of Mannheim Steamroller, has created a multimedia show featuring the music of the popular “Mannheim Steamroller Christmas” album.
For fans of Broadway shows, British playwright Catherine Johnson’s show “Mamma Mia!” which premiered in 1999 in London’s West End, will take the stage in Bangor just after the new year. The show tells the story of a young bride-to-be trying to find her real father so he can walk her down the aisle at her wedding in a hilarious tale. That’s scheduled for 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 3, 2017. It’s the farewell tour of this popular show featuring the music of ABBA.
For Irish music and dance fans, Riverdance will make a stop at the CIC on Tuesday, May 30, 2017. The theatrical show is celebrating its 20th year of touring.
Other shows this season will include a unique showing of magic and a musical tribute. On Tuesday, Jan. 17, 2017, The Illusionists will bring the talents of seven illusionists to Bangor for what’s said to be a “jaw dropping” show. And on Sunday, April 23, 2017, “Rain: A Tribute to the Beatles” will appear at the Cross Insurance Center.
Tickets for the shows go on sale on at 10 a.m. Monday, Sept. 12, at the CIC box office.
