SOUTHWEST HARBOR, Maine — A power outage has resulted in more than 3,500 Emera customers on Mount Desert Island losing electricity Saturday.
According to a prepared statement released by Emera around 11:30 a.m., line workers are trying to determine the cause of the outage and restore power.
“Communities affected include Southwest Harbor, Tremont, Bass Harbor, Cranberry Island, Islesford, Manset, Seal Cove and Bernard,” Emera officials wrote in a statement. “As always, customers are urged to stay clear of down lines or trees in contact with them. Workers will remain in the field making repairs until all customers are fully restored.”
Emera officials predicted power would be restored by 12:30 p.m. Saturday.
Emera reminded the public to slow down and move over if they come upon line crews working by the side of the road, to avoid any fallen power lines and to use generators in accordance with manufacturer’s guidelines.
Outages can be reported or inquiries made by calling Emera at 207-973-2020 or 1-855-EMERA11 (1-855-363-7211).
