WESTBROOK, Maine — A Westbrook High School track coach is facing felony sex charges, accused of having a relationship with a student.

Timothy Even, 27, was arrested Monday morning.

The superintendent said Timothy Even was placed on administrative leave immediately after his arrest.

Their focus is on notifying the community and supporting students.

They’ll also be launching an internal probe as police continue the criminal investigation.

Police said Timothy Even, the varsity girls track coach and ed-tech at Westbrook High School, was having a sexual relationship with a 17-year-old female student.

Capt. Sean Lally says the investigation started Sunday, when a concerned parent came to them with allegations.

By 10:45 a.m. Monday, Even was interviewed and booked into the Cumberland County Jail, charged with three counts of gross sexual assault.

“The reason he was arrested for gross sexual assault is because of the nature of the relationship and the fact he has supervisory, or disciplinary or instructional control over that student,” Lally said.

Even is also listed as a staffer for camp Susan Curtis, a nonprofit summer program for economically disadvantaged kids.

A message to the foundation Monday was not returned.

Lally said the criminal investigation is ongoing.

“We don’t have any other victims identified or suspected, but we will look into that possibility,” Lally said.

Even is being held without bail.
