BREWER, Maine — Two incumbents and a newcomer are running for two available seats on the Brewer City Council, and three others are running unopposed for school board or district trustee seats.

Council incumbents Kevin O’Connell and Bev Uhlenhake, who is serving as mayor, will be on the Nov. 8 ballot along with resident Randy Tomkins. The municipal elections this year coincide with statewide votes and the national presidential election.

Brewer residents also will select two people to sit on the school committee and one trustee in three uncontested races.

School board member Ashley Blanchard, whose three-year term ends this year, is running to fill the one-year term remaining for former school board member Holly Lundquist, who moved.

Benjamin Umel is running for Blanchard’s seat, a three-year term, and Lester Young, the school department’s former business manager, is running for the open Brewer District Trustees seat, a five-year term.
