RICHMOND, Maine — Firefighters made short work of a kitchen fire in a Langdon Road home Monday afternoon, but not before the flames ignited cabinets and rendered the home temporarily uninhabitable.
Crews from Richmond, Bowdoin, Dresden, Gardiner and Litchfield went to 591 Langdon Road just before 1 p.m. Monday after the lone occupant reported that she was cooking on the stove and a small fire had spread to the kitchen cabinets, Richmond Fire Chief Matt Roberge said.
Firefighters extinguished the flames within 15 or 20 minutes, he said.
The house is insured, according to Roberge.
The American Red Cross is working with the resident displaced by the fire to provide shelter and other essentials, according to a release.
