A Maine high school football coach is one of the top 50 nominees for U.S. Cellular’s Most Valuable Coach Program.

Maine Central Institute of Pittsfield coach Tom Bertrand, who has guided the Huskies to consecutive Class D North championships, joins 49 other coaches selected, who are listed on TheMostValuableCoach.com.

The public is encouraged to vote for Bertrand between now and Oct. 17 at the Most Valuable Coach website. When the voting is complete, two coaches will be recognized at the Under Armour High School All-American Game in January and will win $5,000 for their school.

The program, sponsored by U.S. Cellular, honors high school football coaches who have a positive influence on their players, students and communities.

The two winning coaches will be determined by a second vote taking place from Oct. 20 to Nov. 18, and the winners will be announced on Nov. 21.

The winners and guests will receive an all-expenses paid trip to the All-American game in Orlando for the nationally televised contest on ESPN.
