PORTLAND, Maine — Portland police said a 32-year-old man was shot in an apartment early Monday morning.
The man called 911 around 12:30 a.m. and reported he had been shot. Police said he was found alone in the apartment at 104 Oak St.
The victim was not a resident of the apartment, and police believe he knew his assailant, Assistant Police Chief Vernon Malloch said, adding that authorities do not yet have a motive.
Police believe there were other people in the apartment at the time of the shooting, though they don’t think the renter was there, he said.
Medics from the Portland Fire Department treated him at the scene before bringing the man to Maine Medical Center, where he is listed in stable condition.
Police suspect this is an isolated incident and there is no danger to the public.
Anyone with information about this incident is being asked to contact the Portland Police Department at 207-874-8575.
