BIDDEFORD, Maine — Biddeford police are investigating the apparent stabbing of two Portland men early Sunday morning, according to Deputy Police Chief JoAnne Fisk.

The stabbings at 5 York Court were reported to police at 5 a.m. Sunday, she said. The men’s names were not released Sunday evening, however, Fisk did say that they were 24 and 26 years old and that police do not believe the public is in danger.

Fisk said that police officers who went to the scene found that both of the men had stab wounds. They initially were taken to Southern Maine Health Care but later were transferred to Maine Medical Center in Portland for further treatment, she said.

“At this time, more specific information regarding the nature of their injuries, specific weapons or their current health status cannot be released due to the investigation,” Fisk said in a news release.

“Witnesses who were at the scene are being less than cooperative in the investigation,” she said, adding that detectives were at Maine Medical Center on Sunday evening attempting to interview the two men.
