LIVERMORE FALLS, Maine — A Livermore Falls man has died after he was hit by a police cruiser Friday night on Park Street.
Police say 24-year-old Joseph Slaver was walking along Route 133 when they say he entered the roadway, colliding with the side of a Livermore Falls police cruiser that was driving by, resulting in serious injuries.
Investigators say the crash happened just before midnight Friday. Livermore Falls Police say Officer Troy Reed was heading south into town when the collision with Slaver happened.
He was transported from the scene to Central Maine Medical Center.
Livermore Falls Police say they handed over the investigation to the Androscoggin County Sheriff’s Office so there was no conflict of interest.
A crash reconstruction team is investigating the incident.
