Matthew Mulligan on Tuesday agreed to a contract with the Detroit Lions, the team reported on its website.
Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
The West Enfield native, who entered the NFL as an undrafted free agent out of the University of Maine in 2008, had been a free agent and had spent the 2016 preseason with Detroit before being released.
Mulligan also has spent time with the Miami Dolphins, New York Jets, St. Louis Rams, New England Patriots, Buffalo Bills, Chicago Bears, Arizona Cardinals and Tennessee Titans.
In 81 games, he has 17 receptions for 162 yards and two touchdowns.
Mulligan has carved out a solid NFL career in spite of not playing any organized football until beginning his college career at Husson University in Bangor before transferring to UMaine.
