FREEDOM, Maine — A teenage driver attempting to back into a driveway Thursday missed, according to the Waldo County Sheriff’s Office.
The 16-year-old driver of the 2003 Ford Focus misjudged the reverse maneuver and backed onto a utility pole support wire about 4:30 p.m. on Ayer Ridge Road. Deputy Andrew Mulligan saw the accident happen.
“Deputy Mulligan was able to assist the operator out of the vehicle and get her safely away from the car, which had backed up the wire so far it was resting on its front bumper,” Sheriff Jeffrey Trafton said Friday.
The driver wasn’t injured. The vehicle was towed off the support wire, and Central Maine Power inspected the utility pole and wire for damage.
