BANGOR, Maine — A Mars Hill woman was sentenced Tuesday to six years in prison for conspiring to distribute bath salts, according to the U.S. attorney’s office.

Leda Giggey, 45, also was ordered by Judge John Woodcock Jr. in U.S. District Court to undergo three years of supervised release upon completion of her prison term.

Giggey pleaded guilty to the charge on March 7.

According to court records, Giggey conspired with others in Aroostook County to obtain and distribute bath salts between about January 2012 and June 2014.

On multiple occasions, Giggey ordered bath salts over the internet from China for personal use and to sell to other conspirators.

The case was investigated by the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration and the Maine Drug Enforcement Agency with assistance from the Aroostook County Sheriff’s Office and the U.S. Postal Inspection Service.
