AUGUSTA, Maine – Eldon E. Lizotte, 90, passed away on Monday, November 14, 2016. He was born in Augusta on September 22, 1926, son of the late Eddie and Agnes (Lagassie) Lizotte.

Eldon was a communicant of St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church. He was educated in St. David and Madawaska schools and graduated from Cony High School class of 1947 and Bates Business College in 1949.

He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy during WWII and served as a Coxswain with the Seabees, during the invasion of Okinawa, Guam and many other islands. His accomplishments were many, including being a life member of Le Club Calumet and American Legion Post 2, and a scoutmaster of Boy Scout Troop 625 from 1965 to 1974. He was an avid reader of history and researched all of his ancestors. He loved tradition and enjoyed celebrating holidays with his family.

Eldon had been employed by Central Maine Power Federal Credit Union as president and treasurer for 34 years, retiring in 1990. He had previously been employed by Central Maine Power Co. as an accountant and Ingraham Motors as a bookkeeper.

He is survived by his loving wife of 66 years, Lorraine Fortin Lizotte; two sons, Richard E. Lizotte and his wife, Marcia of Orrington, Maine and William D. Lizotte and his wife, Elizabeth of Palmer, Mass.; daughter-in-law, Patti Lizotte of Ivoryton, Conn.; two sisters, Theresa Tardiff and her husband, Lester of Ariz. and Jackie Gallant of Chelsea, Maine; seven grandchildren, Dennis Lizotte and his wife, Michelle of Post Falls, Idaho, Molly London and her husband, Alex of Milo, Maine, Gregory and Garrick Lizotte of Ivoryton, Conn., Eric Lizotte and his wife, Talia of Manchester, Maine, and Kevin and Jared Lizotte of Palmer, Mass.; a great-granddaughter, Kalen Lizotte of N.C.; a great-grandson, Gavin Lizotte of Idaho; along with many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Eldon was predeceased by a son, Robert G. Lizotte; sister, Greta Bigelow and her husband, Walter; and brother-in-law, Bob Gallant.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to the people at The Residence at Gray Birch who took wonderful care of Eldon for the last month.

There will be no visiting hours. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, November 23, 2016 at St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church, Western Ave., Augusta ME. A military burial will follow at the Maine Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Mt. Vernon Rd., Augusta.
