BANGOR, Maine — A Salvadoran man who was arrested during a traffic stop in Orrington last spring has been sentenced to eight months in prison for unlawfully re-entering the United States, according to the U.S. attorney’s office.
Manual Antonio Guerra-Nolasco, 36, of Canton Matelapa, El Salvador, was sentenced Thursday by Judge John A. Woodcock in U.S. District Court, according to a press release issued by U.S. Attorney Thomas E. Delahanty II.
Guerra-Nolasco was arrested on May 30 during a traffic stop after a Penobscot County Deputy Sheriff determined that the pickup truck the Salvadoran was driving was not registered and that his California driver’s license had been issued in the name of another person, according to the release.
The U.S. Border Patrol conducted an investigation, and Immigration records revealed that Guerra-Nolasco had been removed from the U.S. on Aug. 20, 2007. He pleaded guilty to the charge on Aug. 5, 2016.
