WINDHAM, Maine — A bicyclist was killed in a hit-and-run Wednesday night in Windham, and a second crash, less than a mile away, is also under investigation.

The first crash happened on Anderson Road. The second happened less than a mile away on River Road.

Police say just before 7 p.m. Wednesday a man riding his bicycle on Anderson Road was hit by a car and killed.

Brandon Dumond, 25, was pronounced dead at the scene, police said.

Officers from Windham and Westbrook had both sides of Anderson Road shut down as they pieced together what happened.

About 30 minutes later, a second crash happened just down the road on River Road. It was a single-vehicle crash.

Police say it’s too early to tell whether the two crashes are related.

Two separate reconstruction teams are handling both crashes.

Police have not released the name of the driver or condition.
