PORTLAND, Maine — A 38-year-old Mechanics Falls woman was sentenced in federal court Friday to 30 days in prison and two years of supervised release for failing to account for and pay federal employment taxes, according to the U.S. attorney’s office.
Judge George Z. Singal also ordered Amanda Ouellette to pay $114,488 in restitution. She pleaded guilty on July 12.
From 2008 to 2013, Ouellette operated the Oxford restaurant Daddy O’s and paid wages on a regular basis to several employees, the U.S. attorney’s office reported in a press release issued Friday. She withheld federal income and FICA taxes from her employees’ pay, but from 2009 through 2013, she failed to file quarterly federal income tax returns and pay the taxes she withheld to the Internal Revenue Service as required.
The investigation was conducted by the Internal Revenue Service’s Criminal Investigation division.
