UNION, Maine — A Union man remained at Knox County Jail on $10,000 cash bail Friday after police say he assaulted his girlfriend and her two small children Thursday night.

Jessie Tirrell, 27, faces two counts of felony aggravated assault and one count each of domestic violence assault and unlawful sexual contact, according to a news release from Stephen McCausland, spokesman for the Maine Department of Public Safety.

Detectives went to PenBay Medical Center on Thursday night after staff reported that an 18-month-old girl had been seen for a broken arm.

An investigation revealed that the girl’s 5-year-old sister and her mother had been assaulted as well.

Additional information was not immediately available Friday.
