LEWISTON, Maine — The Red Cross is assisting four families that were displaced by an apartment building fire early Saturday morning. The Red Cross will ensure the families have a safe place to sleep, food and other essentials.

The fire was at 134 Bartlett St.

Red Cross emergency assistance includes vouchers for temporary lodging, food and clothing as needed, and Disaster Mental Health volunteers will be available to help families with the emotional aspect of disaster.

Over the next several days, the Red Cross will stay in contact with the families to provide financial assistance and community referrals.
