A two-time Boston Red Sox World Series champion will headline the Portland Sea Dogs’ Hot Stove Dinner and Silent Auction in January.

The Red Sox’s Double-A affiliate announced Wednesday that former Red Sox catcher Jason Varitek will appear on Friday, Jan. 13, 2017, in Portland.

Additional guests will be announced at a later date for the event, scheduled for 5:30 p.m. at the Sable Oaks Marriott in South Portland.

Varitek, who serves as a special assistant to Red Sox President of Baseball Operations Dave Dombrowski, spent 15 season with the Red Sox, driving in 757 runs and hitting 193 home runs while batting .256.

He also was a 2005 Gold Glove winner and appeared in 63 postseason games. Varitek was inducted in the Red Sox Hall of Fame in 2016.

Tickets for the event are on sale for $60. They can be obtained at the Hadlock Field box office, at www.seadogs.com or by calling 879-5000.

Doors open at 5:30 p.m., with the silent auction running 5:30-7 p.m. and the buffet dinner served at 6:30 p.m. The hot stove program will start at 7 p.m.

All attendees will receive an autographed 8×10 photo of Varitek.

All proceeds from the event will benefit the Strike Out Cancer in Kids program, the Sea Dogs’ official charity, which has raised more than $4 million in 23 years.
