OLD TOWN, Maine — Old Town police arrested five people — three of them residents and two of them from Bronx, New York — as the result of an investigation into alleged drug activity in the community.
Arrested were: Daniel Legere, 30, of Old Town; BobbieJo Legere, 33, of Old Town; Brady Osnoe, 21, of Old Town; Josue Colon, 21, of Bronx, New York; and Leonardo Contreras, 23, of Bronx, New York, Old Town police Capt. Lee Miller said Friday in a news release.
Each was charged with one count of aggravated trafficking in crack cocaine, a Class A felony punishable by up to 30 years in prison and a fine of up to $50,000, and unlawful trafficking in heroin, a Class B felony that carries a maximum penalty of 10 years in prison and a $20,000 fine.
Miller said that Old Town police, with the help of Orono police, executed a search warrant on Water Street at about 12:45 p.m. during which they seized 200 packets of heroin, about 100 grams of crack cocaine and $3,500 cash believed to be the proceeds of drug sales.
The drugs that were confiscated had a street value of roughly $21,000, he said.
Miller said that the search warrant was obtained as the result of an investigation led by Old Town police Detective Jordan Norton.
