WELLS, Maine — A Waldoboro man died Friday morning when his pickup truck collided with a plow truck on the Maine Turnpike, according to Maine State Police.

Troopers said the pickup driver, 48-year-old Michael Sands of Waldoboro, was killed instantly in the collision.

The crash happened in the northbound lane at Mile 16. Traffic was reduced to one lane, but police expect both lanes to reopen by 11 a.m., according to a news release from Maine Public Safety spokesman Stephen McCausland.
