PORTLAND, Maine — A Scarborough man, who Windham police say was drunk when he hit a bicyclist in November and then took off in his vehicle only to crash a mile down the road, has been indicted by the Cumberland County grand jury on manslaughter and three other felony charges.

Devin Brown, 33, was indicted Thursday on charges of manslaughter, aggravated criminal operating under the influence of intoxicants, aggravated assault and leaving the scene of an accident involving serious bodily injury or death.

If convicted on the manslaughter charge, he faces a maximum of 30 years in prison.

Brown struck bicyclist Brandon Dumond, 26, of Windham at about 6:50 p.m. Nov. 18 just down the road from Dumond’s home and then fled the scene, according to police.

Assistant District Attorney Meghan Connelly of the Cumberland County district attorney’s office is handling the case. A message left for her on Thursday for a comment about the case was not immediately returned.

Brown was arrested in November and was taken to Cumberland County Jail, where he remained on Thursday, according to the jail’s confined inmate list posted online.
