Lisbon native Greg Moore, who played professional hockey for 10 years after a four-year career at the University of Maine, has been hired as an assistant coach with USA Hockey’s National Team Development Program.

According to a USA Hockey statement, Moore has been brought in by new head coach Seth Appert. He will be an assistant with the National Under-17 team.

Appert was fired by RPI earlier this spring, and is currently coaching the U.S. Men’s National Team at the IIHF World Championships.

Moore, an alumnus of the USA National Development Program, played at UMaine from 2002-2006.

He compiled 66 goals and 41 assists (107 points) in a 154-game career and as a senior was a finalist for the Hobey Baker Award given to the nation’s top player.

Following his Black Bear career, Moore went on to play professional hockey for 10 years, including in the National Hockey League, American Hockey League and in Germany.
