The Maine Principals’ Association is taking a better safe than sorry approach to the high school team tennis regional championships scheduled for Tuesday.
Rather than flirt with rain and wet playing surfaces, Tuesday’s matches in Classes A, B and C have been moved indoors.
Matches in Classes A and B will be played at Maine Pines Racquet and Fitness Tennis Club in Brunswick, while the Class C championships have been moved to the Armstrong Tennis Center in Hampden.
For Class C, the girls match pitting No. 3 Orono (14-0) against No. 5 George Stevens Academy (12-3) is scheduled to begin at 1 p.m. Teams should report at 12:30.
The Class C boys match between top-seeded GSA (14-0) and No. 6 Washington Academy of East Machias (9-6) is scheduled for a 3:45 p.m. start and teams are asked to report at 3:15.
At Brunswick, the Class A teams get the action started. The No. 1 Lewiston girls (13-1) battle No. 3 Brunswick (12-2) at 9 a.m., followed by the No. 1 Brunswick boys (13-0) and No. 2 Lewiston (12-2) at 11:15 a.m.
In Class B, top seed Camden Hills (14-0) squares off against No. 2 Caribou (14-0) in the girls match at 1:30 p.m. and the No. 2 Camden Hills boys (14-0) battle fourth-seeded Waterville (12-2) at 3:45 p.m.
In each case, teams are asked to report one-half our prior to the match starting time.
