PARIS, Maine — A Jeep and a pickup, two of three vehicles stolen in the Paris area in recent days, were found Monday, one burning in Paris and the other mired in an Oxford swamp, according to the Lewiston Sun Journal.
Firefighters were called to an outdoor fire at a sand pit off Oxford Street Monday, but didn’t realize it was a vehicle fire until they arrived. The vehicle was demolished. The Jeep had been taken from Otisfield on Saturday.
A pickup truck taken from Paris was found Monday morning mired in deep mud and water on an old road through the woods.
Two cars were reported stolen from Paris and one from Otisfield. Police told the paper they believe the thefts are connected.
The Oxford County Sheriff’s Office is still investigating the thefts.
