UNION, Maine — Two women died in a head-on collision Wednesday in Union.
Sherry Cloutier, 52, of Augusta was driving west on Route 17 around 5 p.m. when her vehicle crossed the centerline and struck a Saab driven by Angela Knight-Boege, 49, of Warren, according to the Knox County Sheriff’s Office.
Investigators haven’t yet determined why Cloutier crossed into oncoming traffic.
Both drivers were the sole occupants of the vehicles, and both died at the scene.
The road was closed for about three hours after the crash.
