The Coast Guard ended a Saturday morning search after the owner of kayaks left unattended and discovered in Casco Bay made contact with authorities.

Around 7:30 a.m. Saturday, the U.S. Coast Guard was informed about two unmanned kayaks found in Casco Bay.

No items were found inside the kayaks, which may have drifted off.

The Coast Guard and Falmouth Police searched around Great Diamond Island and Cow Island, along with on the islands themselves.

Coast Guard officials are urging the public to place identifying information on their crafts, which may have helped them avoid spending hours undertaking an unnecessary search.
