BANGOR, Maine — The Old Town Junior League all-stars scored 40 runs over two games on Sunday to win the state championship with 17-0 and 23-9 victories over Falmouth at Mansfield Stadium.
Old Town advanced to the Junior League Baseball East Regional Tournament scheduled for Aug. 4 to 9 in Freehold Township, New Jersey. Old Town plays its first game at 4 p.m. on Friday against the Massachusetts state champion.
In the Maine state tourney, Old Town had to defeat Falmouth twice Sunday after falling to it on Saturday in the first day of the two-day tourney, 7-6.
In Sunday’s second game, Old Town plated 12 runs in the top of the fifth inning to pull away for the victory.
Zack Dill doubled, singled four times and knocked in three runs for the winners. Tanner Evans singled three times (RBI) while Cam Shorette drove in five runs with a double and three singles. Matt Seymour added a two-run double and Casey Downs three singles and three RBIs.
Ben Keller’s two-run double paced Falmouth.
In Sunday’s first game, Evans pitched a one-hit shutout to help Old Town force the winner-take-all contest.
Evans also plated four runs with a triple, two singles and four RBIs. Cam Shorette added a double, single and RBI.
Bennett Smith singled for Falmouth.

At Bangor on Saturday, Old Town scored 12 runs over the final two innings to defeat Bucksport.
Zack Dill singled three times and drove in two runs for Old Town. Joseph D’Angelo recorded two singles and an RBI.
Ty Giberson paced Bucksport with two singles and an RBI.

At Bangor on Saturday, Ryan Huard recorded two singles and drove in a run as Falmouth eliminated Bucksport.
Ryan Curran allowed one run on six hits in getting a complete-game win.
For Bucksport, Ty Giberson doubled in a run.

At Bangor on Saturday, Bennett Smith singled in a run and got a strikeout with the bases loaded in the seventh to help Falmouth defeat Old Town.
