An Old Orchard Beach man faces a terrorizing charge after he allegedly sent a text message indicating there was a bomb inside the Hannaford supermarket in Saco, according to WCSH 6.
Police arrested Edward Medicke, 32, of Old Orchard Beach on Wednesday evening, several hours after the alleged threat.
The Hannaford and other stores in the same shopping plaza were evacuated Wednesday afternoon after Saco police received a complaint around 1:45 p.m. stating that a person received a text message, purportedly from Medicke, asking whether anything had happened at Hannaford yet. The sender followed up with a message implying that someone had placed a bomb in the supermarket, according to WCSH 6.
Police brought in two dogs to search for any explosives and didn’t find anything, so the plaza was reopened within an hour of the evacuation.
