Two men from out of state face arson charges after they allegedly set a vehicle ablaze in a Waterville parking lot Wednesday morning, according to the Waterville Morning Sentinel.

James Richard Page, 26, and Andrew Michael Bartmann, 34, who police describe as transients, made their first court appearance by video later that afternoon.

Page and Bartman are accused of driving a vehicle, which police say may have been stolen in Oregon, to Maine before setting it on fire in the Super Shoes parking lot in Waterville, according to the Sentinel.

The prosecutor, Assistant District Attorney Christopher Coleman, told the judge witnesses saw both men in the car when the fire sprang up and that both ran away.

Both men were being held on $5,000 cash bail and remained at Kennebec County jail through Wednesday.
