A woman from Florida sideswiped a Cumberland County deputy’s cruiser heading in the opposite direction, authorities said.

Both vehicles were totaled after Patricia DeWolfe, 64, crossed the centerline headed east in a black 2007 Ford Taurus on Route 302 in Casco on Thursday morning and collided with Deputy Patrick Ferriter’s SUV, the sheriff’s office said.

“Witness statements and evidence at the scene confirmed that DeWolfe crossed the centerline and struck the sheriff’s patrol vehicle,” Capt. Scott Stewart of the Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office said Thursday.

The deputy’s SUV was damaged along the driver’s side and the rear wheel was missing.

Neither driver suffered serious injuries, but DeWolfe and Ferriter were taken to local medical facilities to be checked out, Stewart said.

DeWolfe has a summer residence in Harrison and a winter home in Estero, Florida.

A reconstruction team from the Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the collision.
