Portland police have released a sketch of a person of interest related to the homicide of homeless man earlier this month, and are seeking the public’s help identifying the man.

Sunao Thomas Yamada, Jr., 54, was found dead in the early morning hours of Sept. 10 in front of 19 Temple St., police said. Investigators believe he was killed around 3:20 a.m., and say that he was seen around that time with a thin white male between 25 and 35 years old, standing at about 6 feet tall with short dark hair.

In Tuesday’s announcement, Portland police said the person of interest was wearing a black sweatshirt with a white logo on the front left chest and a large white circular logo, with lettering along the top, on the back. They also said the person was wearing gray sweatpants or jeans, and are urging anyone who recognizes the person or description to contact police at 207-874-8575.
